La Cabra
The GOAT, literally and figuratively. Based out of Copenhagen, Denmark, La Cabra has made its way to the US in New York. A pioneer of ultra-light roasts, La Cabra is my personal favorite roaster. The purity of flavors is unmatched, and I brew it at home daily. Oh, and they have the best cardamum bun you’ll ever eat. Sit back and enjoy the beautiful Scandinavian design.
Suited
One of the best cafes I’ve ever visited, and is top 3 in NYC for me. The team at Suited genuinely went above and beyond to give me a great experience. 10/10 experience, 10/10 coffee, 10/10 space (although limited seating). They talked me into a Washed Colombian Gesha from subtext.coffee, and my goodness was it incredible. With tons of roasters to choose from, you can’t go wrong. Please make Suited a priority on your next NY trip!
dae day
Aussie run and inspired dae day is a true banger of a cafe. If you know coffee, you know Australia is passionate about their coffee (and that they have the best). Extremely hospitable and delicious. Dae day is extremely high on my list.
Cozy and quaint, tucked away in the lovely West Village. Barista was extremely kind and gave me a free upgrade to a more expensive bean when I told him I was visiting cafes. Delicious flatty, highly recommend Terremoto.
Terremoto
St. Kilda
Another NY banger. I didn’t realize it but I didn’t go to the main location. St. Kilda was on my list for a while and I’m glad I finally made it. Another awesome roaster in NY. Also, just appreciate the beautiful branding and color palette.
Coffee Project
Coffee in NY isn’t complete without Coffee Project. A major player in the game producing high quality coffee. Look up any coffee enthusiast list and Coffee Project is probably on there. It took me 5 NY trips to finally go - but I’d highly recommend! A great thing about Coffee Project is they have lots of locations around the city.
Voyager Espresso
The most unique on the list, but one of the best. Voyager is a micro cafe located underground, near the subway. Voyager is TRULY producing great coffees. If you just want a no-frills, pure coffee experience, Voyager is the spot. The hospitality is also top notch.
REGULAR
A small, cozy, and quality-first cafe located in Lower Manhattan. Owner chatted with me a few minutes and made sure I had a good experience.
The Mandarin
Coffee - good! Aesthetics - INCREDIBLE. I love a good cafe design, and sometimes I’ll take a 7/10 or 8/10 coffee for a 10/10 cafe. It’s also all relative. In many cities, this would easily be the best coffee. Anyways, just enjoy the photos.
Bird and Branch
Another stylish cafe with solid espresso. Only so many cafes can be, “the best”, but NYC is filled with tons of really good ones.
Manjul
Similar to the Mandarin, another cafe that is 7/10 coffee but 10/10 aesthetics. Still love the spot. Manjul is a clothing design company focusing on minimal and neutral, but have opened a cafe in the growing trend of combining coffee with other commercial areas.
Frisson Espresso
Frisson is very famous for their latte art on social media. I didn’t order a latte and also the main latte artist wasn’t there when I visited. Honestly, I was pretty disappointed with my cappuccino. Way too hot and over extracted. I’m keeping them here largely because I’m giving them the benefit of the doubt on their reputation (and commitment to the latte art).
